The Frederick Speakers Series brings the best and brightest minds to center stage. The goal? To engage our community through enlightening discourse and meaningful topics. As a result of the Series, Frederick’s reputation as an intellectual hub continues to grow, drawing audiences from DC, Baltimore, and beyond.
The Frederick Speaker Series is held at the Weinberg Center for the Arts in Downtown Frederick, offering lectures followed by audience questions. Every event also features an exclusive post-event reception with the speaker, with proceeds benefiting Frederick County Public Libraries children’s programs.
The 2018 season includes Dr Temple Grandin, Ted Koppel, Mitch Albom, and Rita Moreno. Learn more about our speakers.
The Frederick Speaker Series concept was initiated by Marvin and Lisa Ausherman, who believe the time is right for Frederick to become home to the kind of intellectually stimulating lectures that, in the past, our residents were required to drive long distances to enjoy. The Ausherman Family Foundation has pledged a substantial financial stake to make this series a reality.
Partnering with the Weinberg Center for the Arts, and Frederick County Public Libraries has provided the speaker series with both the facilities and the expertise to make this endeavor a success from the start.
The Speaker Series Committee values your input. Please send speaker suggestions, sponsorship inquiries and other feedback to Lisa Ausherman.
